Trash and Recycling

Whitingham currently uses dual-stream recycling. We collect paper in one dumpster and metal, glass and plastic containers in another dumpster. (Please rinse your containers before recycling.) The Lions Club collects returnable cans and bottles on site.

What is Household Hazardous Waste?

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is common household products that exhibit the characteristics of hazardous waste. As a result, these products may be harmful to humans and/or the environment. Many of these products are very common and are usually purchased from hardware, automotive, and grocery stores. These products can be used and found in our homes, garages, gardens and on our lawns.

The Vermont Materials Management Map (linked here) was developed to connect residents, businesses, and institutions with solid waste services; and to connect haulers, composters, and food rescue agencies to sources of food and food scraps. The goal is to make it easier to reduce waste and save natural resources.
