Did you know that in 2017, about 65% of Vermont taxpayers qualified to file their federal and state taxes for free through Vermont Free File, but only about 2% of those eligible actually used Free File?
Free help is offered through several organizations. In 2018, the Vermont Department of Taxes is emphasizing free tax services and assistance for eligible Vermonters through Vermont Free File (free e-filing using vendor software), MyFreeTaxes, VITA/TCE, the AARP Foundation, and the IRS Agent Virtual Delivery Service. Requests for paper forms continue to decline as more taxpayers move to e-filing their returns, but we recognize there is a still a need for those who prefer to file using paper forms or who do not have access to a computer and the internet. Find information to obtain paper forms:
